I'm travelling to Heathrow on Monday from Huntingdon on the Thameslink. Are there still Oyster validators on the Thameslink platforms at Farringdon (buying a ticket to Farringdon and using Oyster is about £20 cheaper) or do I need to exit/re-enter the station?
Also how do E-Tickets work there. do they only work at a particular gate line or can I exit/re-enter at the Undeground one?
I've not been to Farringdon in years so don't know the layout anymore.
Thanks

Huntingdon to Farringdon can’t be e-ticket, paper ticket only.
Eh? Tickets to London Thameslink are enabled for E-Ticket fulfillment, and I've used E-Tickets at Farrington at least twice.

Yes, there are.

You'd be best off leaving from the National Rail gateline to prevent confusion, but there aren't any E-Ticket readers (I don't think?) so you need to present your ticket to a staff member at the gateline.
Thanks for the correction, I though I tried to buy one using this site's ticket site and it said paper only, but I must have been mistaken.
Some splits won't be available for various reasons, and fares to LU Zones won't either despite being interavailable on Thameslink. You were probably offered one of these.

Yes. Southbound you should travel in the front of the train. Follow signs to the Elizabeth line which will take you over the Thameslink lines and down level with the Northbound platform. There is a validator on the right just before you go down the escalators to the Elizabeth line. For the reverse you can also use the same validator, or there is one just inside the Northbound platform.

Oh cool that make's it much easier then having to enter/exit with a suitcase!

There's a lift directly from the southbound Thameslink platform to the Elizabeth line, but that avoids the validator mentioned above. There are other validators on the Thameslink platform but they don't align well with the front of a Thameslink train - to use these it's better to be in the fourth coach (or thereabouts) and walk to the lift, touching in on the way (they are located at the steps up to the Underground platform).

I'm fairly sure that there are now scanners on the Network Rail gateline (South side of Cowcross Street), but as others have said, it's easier to just validate the Oyster card whilst moving from Thameslink to the other line (the lack of scan on exit shouldn't be a problem for an eTicket, or paper ticket, although would be for a KeyGo enabled smartcard).

There’s no need to exit and re-enter at Farringdon.

There are Oyster validators on the platforms on the southbound Thameslink and anti-clockwise circle line platform island where you can touch in using Oyster. Then use the lift at the very south end of the southbound platform to get to the Elizabeth Line.

Coming back there are validators at the top of the Escalators between the Elizabeth Line and Northbound Thameslink platforms where you can touch out with your Oyster card.

There is no need to scan your e-ticket in or out at Farringdon.

NB. Do make sure you have a ticket from Huntingdon to London Thameslink (which is valid to Farringdon) and not to London Terminals, because a London Terminals ticket is not valid behind Kings Cross/St Pancras.
