Île-de-France Mobilités has ordered 103 new MF19 subway trains for the Paris metro lines 8, 12, and 13 from Alstom. The new trains are scheduled to be deployed between 2027 and 2029. This procurement is estimated at nearly 1.1 billion euros (excluding taxes). Île-de-France Mobilités is providing 100% of the funding for these 103 trains, which will be operated by RATPgroup.
This order follows that of 44 trains for lines 10, 3bis, and 7bis in 2019. Further orders to supplement lines 8, 12, 3, and 7 are expected soon. In total, eight metro lines (3, 3bis, 7, 7bis, 8, 10, 12, and 13) will benefit from these new trains, replacing the MF67, MF77, and MF88 models. Their arrival, expected as early as 2025 on line 10, is part of a broader strategy to accelerate the modernization of the metro network, driven by the organising authority. This strategy has triggered unprecedented investments, totalling nearly 10 billion euros by 2035.
This latest order aims to allow Alstom to secure its supply chains while adapting to the progress of necessary infrastructure works, such as platform adjustments, platform screen doors, and signalling systems, on the lines, says Île-de-France Mobilités.
