Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how the stock on the Paris Metro is numbered as Wikipedia doesn't help much and I can't find anything elsewhere.

Thanks in advance

All metro units are prefixed MP or MF for Métro Pneu or Métro Ferroviaire, IIRC, which relates to whether their are rubber tired or rail wheeled respectively.

I think the class numbers are pretty much sequential, in order of their introduction, but with a vague relation to the year that design commenced. Hence the MP59, although introduced in the early sixties, was part of a project started in 1959.

Thanks for that

What I'm after is unit/coach numbers.

What I would also like is the mileage data

You need a copy of Brian Hardy's "Paris Metro Handbook".

I think the most recent edition is June 1999, but it's only now that there is more new stock coming into service in Paris since then though.
