I’ll be doing this trip, from Newcastle upon Tyne to Corbridge, for a meal at the Valley restaurant at Corbridge station, for the first time tonight, with 3 other people.

As has been mentioned previously on the forum: “Our trained, smartly dressed staff will greet you at the station, at 5.30pm under the clock. They will welcome you and your guests and escort you by train to The Valley at Corbridge. The orders are taken on the train from our full à la Carte menu and will be ready on your arrival. Drinks are served on the train”.

The current price is £56.50, including the 5 course meal and train tickets, but not the drinks served on the train.

As this is a package where the restaurant books the train tickets, I had wondered whether they manage to (formally or informally) ‘reserve’ seats on the train for a group to sit together. A previous reviewer said that on the outward journey there were no formal reservations, but a very aggressive waiter putting off non-restaurant customers !

I’ll be reporting live on the experience !

Oooh please do give us your thoughts! I've always fancied doing this particularly as the Valley Junction in Jesmond is excellent and they're the same outfit (indeed they advertise the Passage to India in their menu!).

I wonder whether the TOC are aware - that sounds like a highly irregular situation!

You can just imagine the complaints to Northern:

“Your guard on the Corbridge train was extremely rude to us and claimed we couldn’t sit where we wanted to. And, furthermore, why on earth was he dressed up as a waiter?”. :D

Its been going on for years - I can remember it happening during the Serco/Abellio days. So they'll be more than aware I'd imagine!

As @ainsworth74 says, they run multiple restaurants in the area. Valley Junction in Jesmond has become a forum meet favourite.

On-time departure from Newcastle, lots of restaurant customers on the train, drinks served, food orders taken!
