Passengers were forced off a train and into taxis at Oxford station last night after an assault on the driver.
The 21.48 train between London Paddington and Worcester Shrub Hill was cancelled at Oxford on Saturday night 'at the request of the police', according to rail updates.
Great Western Railway’s social media help service told passengers a member of staff had been assaulted and that taxis would be provided from Oxford to Hanborough and Charlbury and beyond to Worcester.
A spokesman later told the Oxford Mail that member of staff was the train driver.
The driver is not believed to have been on the train when the assault took place.
The train had stopped at Didcot Parkway for around 40 minutes before moving onto Oxford and being terminated.
British Transport Police have not yet confirmed if anyone was arrested, or the extent of any injuries caused.
