PDFs of British Railways timetables 1948-2020

Timetable World is well on the way to providing complete coverage of British Railways timetables from 1948 to 2020. A complete set would be about 350 books and, thanks to the kindness of supporters of the digital archive, around 85% of the originals have now been sourced.

It is a substantial effort to digitise so many books. The aim is to complete the work by Christmas. The result is a searchable PDF file per timetable with a separate file for the pull-out maps if they are available.

The electronic railway timetables from December 2007 are available to download free because the team simply collected them, whereas proceeds from purchases of the others go to support the archive.

The status is:

• National electronic timetables 2007-2020 : all available for free download
• National timetables 1974-2007 : all available
• Eastern Region 1948 – 1973 : 43 of the 48 editions available
• North Eastern Region 1948 – 1967 : 31 or 39 editions available [North Eastern was merged with Eastern from 1968]

Working anti-clockwise around Great Britain, Scotland Region is next for release, then London Midland.

Two further releases during October mean that 1948-1973 timetables for Scotland and for London Midland region are now available.

• Scotland: 35 of the 44 are available
• London Midland: 37 of 43 are available

The regional timetables are all £6 each. The national timetables 1974-2007 are £10 each

November's task is to work through Western and Southern regions, and that will complete what Timetable World has access to.

Good news! Timetable World has completed publishing the full set of 339 Great Britain and regional railway timetables 1948 - 2020.

The ERTs from 2007 are free downloads. The GB timetables 1974-2007 are available to purchase and download as searchable PDF files @ £10 each. The Regional timetables 1948-1973 are £6 each. Proceeds help to pay for servers, electricity etc.
