It's not like you need a passport to cross the borders anyway; what they should be more upset about is the fact that those English counties along the border, which the Welsh Marches Line runs through, are supposed to be part of Wales anyway given historically, they were! It's probably a LOT easier to redraw the border and put the Wirral, Cheshire West, Shropshire and Herefordshire in Wales if you really want a north-south rail link wholly within Wales.Of course, for the majority of people living in North Wales (who live east of the River Conwy) and the majority of people living in South Wales (who live east of the River Afan) getting from one to the other by rail will always be quicker via Shrewsbury than via Aberystwyth but for the appalling fact [to some people] that it involves travelling via ...................... England. Which seems to upset them quite unreasonably.
