I'm planning a trip to Poland in March, does anybody know if there's anywhere in the country where it's still quite easy to find EN57 EMUs in unrefurbished (or minimally refurbished) condition?

Also, does anybody know if ex-Vienna E1 trams are still operating in Krakow?

I caught a completely unrefurbished EN57 on the trains that run between Gdynia Chylonia and Elbląg. The ones that seemed to terminate in Gdynia were older while the ones that went through to Slupsk were EN90s (?)

Of course the SKM local trains in Gdánsk/Gydnia also have EN57s in all sorts of refurbished/unrefurbished states. During the week they're quite frequent and Interrail passes are valid if you'll be using one. They're probably the easiest.

When I was in Kraków a couple of weeks ago the E1s were indeed running. Lines 13 and 22 during the week had them, but there were definitely others.

You'll also find old Konstal trams on the 52 during the week (best bet is during the day) and I also saw one on the 6 on a Sunday.

Thanks, that's a great help. I've not been to Poland before, so I'll definitely keep an eye out for the Konstal trams too!

Wroclaw-Opole-Katowice Polregio services are worked by old style EN57, as are most of the Wroclaw- Ostrow PR workings. The twice a day Opole-Jelcz- Wroclaw and some of the Kluczbork- Ostrow and a few locals around Opole. All these were noted two weeks ago (Jan 2023). HTH
