externally refurbished currently
I've never heard anyone refer to a repaint as a refurbishment before!

The interior had very significant work done to refresh it only a couple of years ago - I am surprised at all of these questions over refurbishment. They are in much better condition than some similarly aged trains. However, as is current railway standard, expect everything to be replaced when the new franchise is awarded.

They are changing the livery but only as a result of the need to paint them - not the other way around.

A lot of livery changes do not involve any paint.

Am in two minds about the external redecoration. It is a bit plain but part of me likes it. The interior is same as always, alright if they aren't crowded.

The new livery is basically just a simplified, duller version of the VTEC Azuma livery (which I'm not particularly a fan of; much prefer the livery on the 91s)

It looks nice (ok without the window things, better with them) but to me it makes it seem like a different type of train. I’ve never been able to imagine a 390 Pendolino in a different livery. Same as how I can’t imagine a non Virgin one!

Yeah, the HST's, 91's and Mk 4's and all manner of other stock have always had all kinds of different liveries. The Pendolinos have had the same livery from the start.

(Minor point but DDA was repealed 7 years ago. A much better word to use is simply "accessible". No need for jargon and acronyms when a simple descriptive word will suffice)

At the risk of being a little pedantic, the previous poster was quite right to say the Pendolinos are DDA compliant, as this was the relevant legislation in force when they were introduced.

It doesn't necessarily follow the trains compliant with DDA requirements will comply with their current equivalents.

I have been using the Pendolino since 2004, even went on them when they did first tilting runs on certain London-Liverpool trains, I have used them countless times over the years, and was on the non stop special which did Glasgow-Euston in just over 3hrs 55 mins non stop, I find them perfectly comfortable and pleasant to travel on, never had any problem with smells, or feeling claustrophobic, they are quick and I enjoy tilting and fast runs, they can average over 110mph between stations if given clear run, had the odd one have tilt failure, but it seems rare to me, Not had one in the new white livery yet, don’t get me wrong I love the HST and loco hauled as am a basher, but I also like the modern and brand new trains too.
