Hi everyone,

When approaching Leeds station from Doncaster there looks to be the remains of an old railway system where I'm guessing there used to be a factory of some sort. This can be seen on the left hand side as you approach the station and from memory it's close to some fancy looking apartments.

Thanks for reading this and hopefully someone can confirm what I think I've seen!

If it is where I think youbare on about, there are some rails in concrete which were sidings and a system that was part of Monkbridge Foundry. The site was pulled down many years ago and was due to become apartments but that didn't happen and it became a car park. I believe there was a connection to the main line too.

I always wondered what that was! On the left past Whitehall Jn as you go into Leeds?

It’s been like that since the end of the 1980s

Thanks for finding that - I was looking for the David Heys collection shots as I knew there were some aerial shots showing this part of Leeds.
On this one: http://www.lostrailwayswestyorkshire.co.uk/images/donations/David Hey/Leeds/00-0-a-dh-hst-leeds.jpg it looks like the Monk Bridge Steel works buildings were still in place at least to the early 1980s. I travelled past this from the late 1970s. After they were demolished I remember being astonished at how much track there had been inside. Maybe they were demolished later than I had thought.
