Just an advanced warning for anyone travelling tomorrow that there may be some disruption to services across the network.

Thunderstorms will move up from the South from tonight, slowly making their way north, heading in a north-north easterly direction, before clearing away to the NE. I’d say the amount of rain falling will be the biggest concern, as it poses a risk of flooding.

From the Met Office:
‘Torrential downpours are likely in a few places with parts of the Midlands, East Anglia and southeast England most at risk. Some places could see 15-20 mm in an hour, and perhaps up to 50 mm before storms fade’

After the main band of rain has cleared:
‘Further south, drier conditions briefly develop on Sunday morning before further showers and thunderstorms develop over some parts of southern England, Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia later.’

So in summary:
- Large amounts of rain falling in a short space of time, leading to flooding
- Main areas being Southern England, Wales, The Midlands and East Anglia
- Lightning being a possible hazard where thunderstorms do develop

Looking at the radar, storms are looking possible almost anywhere in Southern England and South Wales.

Electrical ‘popcorn’ cells are popping up rapidly now. Some developing across the Midlands, too.

Many of the final outdoor jubilee celebrations have been cancelled today as a result.
