Pushing the problem down the line. Attempting to make it somebody else's problem and get someone else to take the blame for the inevitable austerity and tax rises that will follow. In reality; it's not their problem, it's our problem.
Absolutely, I'm sure some cabinet members would be happy to continue kicking the can down the road until 2024, or if they get sacked by the PM sooner. Nothing like make no real decisions & blaming the next guy.

It seems there’s already a backlash over the public sector pay freeze. Sunak isn’t going to be popular next year, very hard to sell a pay freeze to people who have worked right through.
I'm in public sector and, whilst not really surprising, somewhat annoyed. I'm annoyed as paying for politician's paranoia, pandering to the media/social media and general incompetence. Would have much less of an issue if it was totally unavoidable but some of it was.
