Transport Focus just noted in the email that
"After providing a copy of the tickets GWR have withdrawn the case and no further action will be taken.
GWR apologised that they hadn’t requested a copy of your tickets earlier given you’d provided a clear reference number taken from your tickets. Whilst the ticket was purchased retrospectively, as it was a return, it would mean you have paid for your journey and GWR are not out of pocket, and as such have withdrawn the case."
It could also just be as Stigy stated that it is a gesture of goodwill.
Either way I am happy with the result.
