If anyone's interested in getting Primrose Hill in (if you haven't done it already) then from tomorrow until Saturday (as well as yesterday) due to engineering work affecting lots of the Overground network, there will be Watford Junction - Stratford and Stratford - Watford Junction services running all stops to South Hampstead, Primrose Hill and then onto Camden Road to Stratford.

Mojo probably just means the Primrose Hill route, the station was nearly completely demolished only a couple of years ago - you probably wouldn't notice it had been there nowadays, unless looking closely.

surely if you have travelled to/from Euston on the West coast main line you have already done Primrose Hill?

No, only Primrose Hill tunnel (at the top of Camden Bank)
OK, thanks.
I only collected the numbers as a kid, I never marked off the Locos I was hauled by or the routes I travelled, infact I didn't know people did that until I came upon this forum.

Yeah I mean the route via Primrose Hill station; the station building was knocked down a few years ago, just the platforms remain (see pic at bottom of http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/p/primrose_hill/index.shtml).

I last did Primrose Hill when the sleepers were diverted via the ECML on Sundays during summer 2010.

Damnit! Why didn't you post this last night?! :p I was down that way earlier and I'd definitely have gone to the trouble of travelling that section.
Surely a route and station TfL would like to reopen at some point - after all, it was included on 'future maps'.

Would be useful for 378s to go when EUS is being rebuilt for HS2 or whatever....

I think there was talk that if the Harrow - Watford line went over to LU, LO would operate a Stratford - Willesden Junction via Primrose Hill service in order to provide a service for South Hampstead/Kilburn High Road.

Absolute travesty that the buildings on the platform were demolished by dim witted contractors working for Network Rail. When ever we take the kids up on to Primrose Hill (a beautiful spot) i always look over the bridge much to my family’s embarrassment!

Putting my pedant's hat on for a moment, don't forget that the route the sleepers take is different to that of the DC lines just after Primrose Hill. I am not into track bashing to the extent of doing every single crossover, loop or siding but I would certainly count that bit as two separate routes :)

The problem with running to Willesden is capacity alongside an enhanced Bakerloo. There've been a few proposals in the last few years, including a 2 tph Stratford - Queens Park service, but I see in the latest TfL track access the following update that appears to knock that on the head.

"The proposed LOROL passenger service from May 2011 is broadly consistent with the proposals contained within the CL [Cross London] RUS. Where variations occur (e.g. LOROL will not be operating a Queen’s Park-Stratford service), the parties (and TfL) consider that the proposed service represents a more efficient use of capacity and Network capability, in terms of managing the heaviest anticipated passenger flows."

In any case, the service they've come up with for May, of 8 tph peak, 6 tph offpeak plus freight between Stratford and Richmond/Clapham Jn via Camden Rd doesn't appear to have any space for additional services via Primrose Hill.

Here's a (not as good quality as I'd taken it in - damn video compression!) video of the route :)

It's quite amusing about half way through to listen to the conversation where they're wondering where Euston's disappeared to. :D I guess they must have walked straight past the posters, ignored the announcements etc, etc...

I left that in on purpose for entirely that reason :D and the person who knew what was going on looked exactly like that sort of person who would not know what was going on! It surprised me. There were lots of comments about the 'train and signs being faulty today' and the woman you can partly see in the reflection got on at Kilburn High Road, at South Hampstead went 'Oh no I wanted the Euston train!' (as if trains frequently go from South Hampstead to other places?) and almost got off - if she'd got any further I would have mentioned to her that staying there wouldn't be any help.

The driver didn't make any announcements before the one at the end of the video - and it's probably what I would have done as all the passengers were seemingly thinking 'the signs are wrong, this train DOES go to Euston surely?' and one woman got on at Kensal Green, heard the destination announcement and stared bewilderedly at the map, trying to find the orange line between South Hampstead and CMD :P

Is the line between South Hampstead and Camden Road set up for DOO? At what point does the guard join the train to work it forward to Stratford?

Well when the days were that Guards done this route announcements would be made, however LO have decided that the train will run DOO to Camden Road despite the Guard being on board from / to Willesden. So when i go to work on Wednesday i will not use the PA until Camden Raod (if required) and will make an anouncement at Camden Road on my return to let passengers know what is going on and then my duties are finished as far as Operational duties are concerned. I will then sit in the train or back cab whichever takes my desire to Willesden.

It's not running on Sunday; Saturday 26th is the last day, unless the engineering work has overrun.

Also, Great Escape tickets are not valid on these services.
