Thanks ..please explain what 'the loop' is ,I assume its a way of turning trains when neccessary ?

That's the name for the line that goes "behind" platform 6. See the diagram below, taken from the Sectional Appendix:


Note the through line between P11 and P12 labelled Up & Down Loop (and also 'U&D'L at the top of the page).

Just to confirm that trains from Up Fast, cannot currently access pl10,11,12 and loop. That is why the procedure happens the way it does.
