There's a Chichester near Sunderland which is pronounced Chi Chester.

How do people pronounce 'pronunciation'? How many say 'pronounciation' ?

Now you are into the realms of says being 'sez' or 'saes', preferable being 'preferrable' or 'prefferable' usw..

and then there's communal....

I used to when I was a lad.

Now you are into the realms of says being 'sez' or 'saes', preferable being 'preferrable' or 'prefferable' usw..

and then there's communal....

And financial (fin- or fine-?), mischievous/mischievious, controversy (contro-versy, con-trovver-cy), deity (dee-ity, day-ity), ....

An interesting read in this connection is this paper by John Wells, a survey about preferred pronunciations in words with multiple possibilities such as "scone, Asia, zebra". This one is similar.
