A question inspired by the Waterloo upgrade post:

I remember that at one stage, SWR were proposing a quite impressive new recast timetable for 2018, before events took over - including uplifts on some routes, e.g. a Southampton-Portsmouth semi-fast and a return of an 80s-style 6tph frequency in the peak down the Portsmouth Direct.

A draft of this was available at one stage. Anyone know whether this can still be accessed somewhere?

Thanks.

Here are some of the files they released - think there is most of the long distance (possibly excluding Exeter and Salisbury) and I don't think I downloaded the Windsor lines at all.
Non-stop to and from Surbiton every ten minutes in the peaks - and they wonder why SWR folk prefer working from home...

OK, many thanks for that. Yes, they are the ones, I recognise the pattern on the Portsmouth Direct (4tph at 10/20/10/20 min intervals off peak, all to Portsmouth, 2 fast and 2 slow; and in the peak, an additional train to plug the 20-min gap giving a 10-min frequency - as was the case in the 80s).

Of course, non-stop to and from Surbiton every 10 minutes in the peak is an old idea, in effect in the late 70s and much of the 80s. Trains at xxx6 towards Woking every 10 minutes non-stop to Surbiton, and also an xxx2 via Cobham around 4 times per hour. But this proposed timetable seemed to be an attempt to bring back those old high frequencies in the peak of the 80s.

If only things had stayed as they were and these timetables had come to fruition!

For SWR it's just as well they didn't! They are only able to deliver the current timetable by running 4 coach trains on some services because of their complete (and seemingly unique amongst UK TOC's) inability to introduce new stock.

Network rail has a store of all of the odl working and passenger timetables for railtrack and Network rail eras. https://history.networkrail.co.uk/uncategorized/SO_7535743c-982c-47e9-b1c6-beda379e0e45/
The question here is about consulted timetables that never actually happened though, i don’t think they’re going to be on the NR site.

This thread had a bit of a combined effort to provide quite a number of the 2018 consultation proposed timetables some are pdfs and some are in excel tables. The Exeter services are there. Might help?

SWR Consultation output report. I thought I had the actual timetable for the Windsor lines but can't find it.
