Do ToCs and FoCs have different qualification regarding driving trains.

I've been offered a jobs at both and was exploring which would be the better option for me in terms of railway recognition.

Depends on what you want out of it? Foc is good for money and loco hau experience, but no priv cards, no free travel.
Toc are all pretty much EMU/DMU or Bio mode trains, with free travel and priv cards. For now!!

Both got the same railway recognition.

Also some people prefer FOCs because you're left alone and don't need to deal with the public, which some people mind. Especially since some of the public can be very rude. Also because you aren't constantly driving. Whereas some people prefer TOCs because you work less crazy shift times and toilet is more readily available too :)

You might not care about those things but just thought I'd mention.

Bascially, swings and roundabouts...

Personally if i were you I'd choose the one which has less commute time for you

I'd personally go for the shorter commute. Many TOCs have a phobia of night shifts and as a result have shifts finishing at 2am and starting at 3am. I'd say a commute feels at least twice as long at that time of the morning, even if in reality it's twice as fast due to there being no traffic!

However, if you go for a TOC, you may well be able to switch to a FOC once qualified if you don't like passenger work. Most TOCs only take trainees at the moment as there is a financial incentive from the government to register them as apprentices, FOCs often find they need drivers who will be productive quicker.
