Hi,

Just wondered whether anyone has worked for DRS as a driver or any position really at York. Just wondered what they’re like to work for especially on the nuclear driving work?
Terms and conditions, rostering, general feeling of the company and maybe how they compare to other focs?
Thanks

Mate of mine was a Kingmoor man about 10years ago. His roster changed every 12-13weeks, with little notice or heads up what it would be. This being so that any individual driver working the nuclear trains couldn't be tracked over a period of time. For security reasons. It was always very different in each rewrite, again, for the security of the flask trains.

York depot aren't involved in the nuclear work so, its mainly tesco traffic between Toton, Doncaster Iport and Teesport, with a bit of stone traffic between Redcar and Doncaster. Base roster won't change anywhere near as much if you aren't involved in nuclear work and even then the rest day pattern stays quite similar.

T&C's are fairly standard, max movement 4 hours off spare but given its a freight operator you can have some very early book ons, work only 1 in 3 Sundays, 5 1/2 hours max continuous driving team, 12 hour max shift, no safety critical duties after 11th hour on duty. Staff generally treated quite well in my experience with a relatively positive outlook in the company currently
