Is a Swanwick (SNW) to Havant (HAV) Evening Out Return (code: UL; no BoJ restriction) valid, subject to the post-noon time restriction, to "start short" on the outward leg at Portsmouth Harbour, notwithstanding the implied double back through three stations?

National Rail Enquiries will route a Swanwick to Havant journey via Portsmouth Harbour on a single ticket, but I am aware that some double-back permissions are for "interchange only", and it is questionable whether "starting short" would qualify.

It is for interchange only. You might get away with it, but you might not.
