I remember years ago bus stops that were shared by more than one route having "queue this side for x/y/z" on one side and "queue this side for a/b/c" on the other... thereby splitting the queue into 2... of course that was in the days where you wasn't guarunteed to get on the first bus to come along!

Interesting, that would be very useful at certain bus stops in London where there are multiple buses that only come every 20-30 mins.

Yes that was a very good way of doing things in some locations although it's fallen by the wayside in recent years.

Are you seriously suggesting that you are guaranteed to get on the first bus to come along now?

The worst stop for getting on a bus that I've ever experienced is that on the south side of Aldwych in London where all routes using Waterloo Bridge use the one stop, that's about a dozen routes, half of which terminate at Waterloo: the problem is the other half carry on into many different parts of south and south east London. To be waiting in the pouring rain there at 10 p.m. and five buses arrive one behind the other, except that the last two sail by taking my dreams of arriving in Norwood before 11 p.m. with them (yes, you no. 68 driver) is very frustrating. Yes, I could take the first bus to Waterloo and change there, but if I was paying that would be double the fare. I really think it needs two separate stops, one for the Waterloo turners and one for the others. Sadiq Khan, are you listening?

Queuing for a Bus! what's that all about! If I queued for a Bus in Dublin, a) I would never get on and b) everyone else waiting will think your a Tourist, and that means in the City Centre you are catch of the day for any scumbag druggie mugger.
