am a RailAdventure fan from Frankfurt, Germany. I am tracking the current fleet of RailAdventure power cars and other special cars in the UK as well as in continental Europe. The list of the current fleet (completeness to be verified by other RA fans) https://german87ac.com/railadventure-fleet-register/
1. I read that the HST 43467 and 43423 are being stored and being "rubbed down" (I guess this means the paint being stripped off). What stage are these 2 HST now? Do they already have the RA livery?
2. 2 HST 43308 and 43296 are used as parts donors. What are the respective original liveries and who were the previous operators?
Hello everyone,
A Happy New Year 2024!

The list of the current fleet (completeness to be verified by other RA fans) https://german87ac.com/railadventure-fleet-register/
3. Are there other special coupling cars and wagons in the RA UK fleet? I would not find any information on them.
I have also created a Facebook RailAdventure modelling group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1056352378847327/ (also see QR code). The purpose is to share RA models and layouts irrespective of scales.
Thanks for your feedback.
Best regards,
Jimmy
Thanks for the updates. I have updated the register accordingly.1: Rubbed Down / Sanded down. Awaiting a trip to the paintshop while presumably mechanical work is carried out on them including the light modifications.
2: Virgin Trains East Coast / LNER. Though they have been stored in a different area of Eastleigh Works (usually ahead of the "test sheds").
Would you know which are the 5 wagons based permanently in UK i.e the wagon numbers? There are five wagons based in the UK, two IWA translator / barrier vans and three IGB brake force wagons, all five were transferred from RA in Europe. When a delivery of 777s or 555s arrive in the UK the wagons which brought them from Europe are used and then returned after the delivery has been completed

By IWA translator, I think you meant Habfis sliding wall wagons (http://www.bdf.business.t-online.de/___BDW-priv/bdw-priv/railadventure/railadventure.htm#2797001) as we call them in Germany and IGB brake force wagon, Sfps-wagon (stake wagon) (http://www.bdf.business.t-online.de/___BDW-priv/bdw-priv/railadventure/railadventure.htm#4737002)
Thanks! I will ask around. You are right with the IWA/Habfis and IGB/ Sfps, sorry I don't know the wagon numbers though, I think the best way of confirming the numbers is to ask on the UK based RailAdventure facebook page
RailAdventure also own the four ex-Meridian Generic Rail translator vans (converted from the FGW Motorail vans, and originally BR GUVs). Numbers are:Hello everyone,

Thank you for this valuable info. I have added to my list.RailAdventure also own the four ex-Meridian Generic Rail translator vans (converted from the FGW Motorail vans, and originally BR GUVs). Numbers are:
96602, EVN 96 70 0096 602-8
96603, EVN 96 70 0096 603-6
96605, EVN 96 70 0096 605-1
96607, EVN 96 70 0096 607-7
Thank you for this valuable info. I have added to my list.
A bit of luck today, RailAdventure used 20142 & 20189 with the two Habfis/IWAs to transfer a Class 398 from Old Dalby to Pengam Reception Sidings, gen reports show the IWAs to be 8027970176 & 8027970184
Would you know which are the 5 wagons based permanently in UK i.e the wagon numbers?
Thanks for the info Adrian and ExRes!There's a nice photo of this movement on flickr, passing Leicester: https://www.flickr.com/photos/jason15c/53445109892/
The IWA/Habfis and IGB/SFPS wagons used in the UK are the same ones on your list that are used in Europe. They move through the channel tunnel as required for rolling stock deliveries. As far as I know, the only Railadventure IWA or IGB in the UK right now are the two Habfis used on the Class 398 movement last night (017-6 and 018-4) which have been in the UK since August.
For example 7Q55 in this photo from 15th December (with a pair of Class 555 units for the Tyne & Wear Metro) used SFPS (last 4 digits) 007-1, 025-3, 023-8 and 047-7 and Habfis 016-8 and 015-0, which had come through the channel tunnel with the class 555 units:

After these wagons returned to Wembley, they were used to move a pair of Class 777 units to Kirkdale depot for Merseyrail.
The wagons returning from Kirkdale as 6Z80 are seen here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/turners_pics/53411911698/
These wagons moved to Wembley on 3rd January, and then to Dollands Moor for the channel tunnel (hauled by DB Cargo from Wembley). At Wembley 2 more SFPS wagons were attached (043-6 and 002-2), which had been in the sidings at Leicester during most of 2023.
The translator vans mentioned in the post by 43096 can be seen here:

And a closer look here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/class_58050_toton_traction_depot/53050428965/
The website written on the side of them has some info about these vehicles:
https://www.meridian-generic-rail.co.uk/universal-barrier-vehicles/
Btw, what do the initials stand for? IWA, IWB, IGA and IGB?
Thanks for the info Adrian and ExRes!
Therefore. am I right to say that there are no permanent IWA/Habfis and IGB/Sfps wagons stationed in the UK but rather these are transferred from the Continental for transport and may leave UK for any continental-bound transports? The only permanent ones would be the 5 universal brake wagons.

There are two IWAs and three IGBs permanently based in the UK, currently they are at the Severn Valley Railway Kidderminster
Added the years in bold for most of the missing ones but not sure on the last IWA pairWith the exception of the "universal barrier wagons" I don't think Railadventure have a separate UK fleet of wagons which stay permanently in the UK. I think the situation is that some of the European wagons are based (or "outbased" you could say) in the UK, although the actual wagon numbers based here may change occasionally. The UK-based wagons sometimes visit Europe, while the other European Habfis / Sfps wagons also visit the UK on rolling stock movements. Habfis 87802797017-6 and 87802797018-4 (currently at Kidderminster) have been in the UK for months, but did visit Europe for 3 weeks holiday in August 2023. This picture (zoom in to see the wagon number) shows 878027970176 with a Class 777 move from Dollands Moor on 2nd August, and it was back in Europe a few days later, before returning at the end of August with another Class 777 movement (and remaining in the UK since then): https://www.flickr.com/photos/37059-uk/53131572675/
Interesting detail of the "through pipe" braking arrangement!
There were also some GBRF movements that used the Railadventure wagons on stock deliveries from Europe. Some good wagon pictures here from 2019:
https://www.47soton.co.uk/2019/07/the-at300-delivery-train-returns-to.html
And even the "material and workshop car" Habfis have been in the UK, I can see 338027976178 and 338027976780 in this picture, being used as "brake force" together with IGB/Sfps:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/58806173@N08/50094408943/
I can't see any IGA / IGB on TOPS at Kidderminster and I don't think any of the Railadventure Sfps are in the UK right now, even if some are normally based here.
For example all the wagons on this arrival at Kidderminster on 20th December (SFPS 007-1, 025-3, 023-8 and 047-7 and Habfis 016-8 and 015-0) are now in Europe:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/190308600@N04/53431096343/
These are the dates that each wagon left the UK (i.e. the most recent date when it was in the UK). For some of them it's hard to work out the year, but they all seem to have visited the UK since 2020 (except for two wagons which have a Romanian 53 Country code). Hopefully this is useful information (thanks jimmylow for the list of wagons; I haven't see a full list of these wagons before).
