Hi there,
I renewed a (still valid) railcard yesterday and the member of staff that served me issued it for a year from yesterday instead of from the day after expiry.
Annoyed I didn't realize until part way through my journey...would the issuing office issue me with a correctly dated card when I return?
( I have both old and new railcards still.)
Thanks for your advice in advance.

It might depend on the type of card, but for Senior Railcards renewed online, you just get a date of expiry which is set to the date you renew plus one/three years and one week. So there's an overlap where both cards are valid.

Ah, the problem is too little validity.
The old railcard expiry date is 30 Jun 18 but I got issued with a new one expiring on 28 Jun 19 instead of 30 Jun 19.
(If two days seems petty, if I have to buy another one next year to travel on the 29th or 30th when otherwise I might have been able to wait a few months before renewing...that's the reason!)

Was 3 years and 3 weeks in my recent renewal.

I've had the same happen, it's really infuriating! Another job which is better online with no human interaction, ticket office staff are terrible when you ask to start them on a different day to today!

Some, by no means all.

Thank you, I work in a ticket office, and most of my colleagues and I would be happy to start it on another day!

To the OP: if you take both your railcards and your railcard receipt to a manned station (preferably the one where you bought the railcard), you should be able to fill in the railcard replacement form and get the date changed

Thank you, that's really helpful and good to know.
I was actually on the Sleeper when I realized and I did explain when I got to Scotland at my destination's ticket office, (I'll spare their blushes by not saying where), but although the member of staff there was not rude, the answer was that I should have noticed at the time and to try when I got back to Euston!
Cheers again!
