Hi all

Keen to attend the Greatest Gathering event at Litchurch Lane this summer, however all tickets have now sold out (according to Alstom website).

Is there any chance of any more tickets being released, or any resellers?

Many Thanks

The only ones I've seen is booking on one of the railtours going to the event have a LIMITED amount to sell to peeps traveling on the train to Derby, other than that I would be very surprised if they add more tickets to the days already advertised as I'm sure the limit on number of tickets is due to safety concerns over too many on site at any one time, there is a outside chance they MAY add another day to either end but I wouldn't bank on that happening

Avoid re-sellers; the organisers have said on several occasions that there are no authorised re-sellers and that any re-sold tickets will not be valid. It's quite possible they might have some way of checking that on the gate so I would advise against taking the risk.

Umm, what if someone who has one no longer needs it and gives it to someone else? Surely that is valid!

It depends what their security process is like. At most high profile music concerts these days, each ticket has the name of the purchaser printed on it. In order to get into the venue you have to present both the ticket and photo ID that shows you are indeed the person whose name is printed on the ticket. But then I imagine the likes of Taylor Swift have a bit more money to spend on hiring security staff than Litchurch Lane! But I wouldn't be risking it. Best bet now would be either the Pathfinder or UK Railtours charters.

I hope so! I bought two tickets - one for me and one for a friend. Both have my name on them. The conditions say the tickets are not refundable and 'This ticket cannot be exchanged, transferred, or resold for commercial gain.' which would suggest that handing a ticket on to a friend who pays you no more than the face value is valid. There is also no requirement to produce ID in the ticket conditions.

I’d be amazed if they did that at a railway event. It seems very pointless to I don’t see what’s wrong with doing that.

It did say on the booking site that tickets were not transferrable so I guess they must be doing some kind of identity check. It reduces the chance of touts buying loads of tickets and selling on at vastly inflated prices, more and more events are doing this nowadays.

That may just check you are in possession of the card used to buy the tickets, maybe I don't know but if they're saying not transferable that must be saying it for a reason

I ended up paying for two sets of tickets as a result of the original ticketing farce.
Despite asking for a refund, I ended up with a second set of tickets being issued anyway.
I did manage to find a friend-of-a-friend who wanted them, so told Greatest Gathering team that's what I'd done, and I no longer required the refund, and they didn't raise any kind of concern about the transferability at that point.

I suspect it's not going to be an issue, as others have said, it's hardly Taylor Swift.
Given the problems with transferring ticket orders from Mortons to SeeTickets, and the fact that some payments were originally made with PayPal, they probably won't have the original payment card details to check against, even if they wanted to!

Personally, I doubt they'll cross check ID against the tickets. They don't at most music events - Its only the threat of it maybe possibly happening that deters people, and then throw in a couple of high profile gigs turning people away.

HOWEVER - Almost everyone posting on, say, the Greatest Gathering Facebook page saying their plans have changed and they have a ticket for sale is almost certainly a scammer, so i would be very, very wary of paying someone that you don't know for tickets.

This, as someone who has to manage a Facebook page. We have this happen on some of our events we are attending. We do try and delete the comments but it does not always notify us this has happened. One event it happened multiple times, even after we posted to buy from the event organizers only or at the event itself. (Slight OT i know).

It’s a shame they aren’t running the event for longer, there is clearly demand given how quickly it sold out. I’d have loved to have gone along with my son but by the time I heard about it tickets were long gone. I guess it happening at an active works site means they are limited to some extent, and some of the stock involved has to earn a living so can’t be there for weeks.

Don't know if you are aware or if indeed any use at all, but there will be an open month at Alstom's Glasgow Polmadie depot for Rail200 for the entirety of September, no pre-booking required.

Won't be as big as 'The Greatest Gathering' but hopefully they will make some effort to have some interesting things to see!

It's in the list of Railway 200 events. It was mentioned in another thread at the time tickets for Litchurch went on sale.
The list of events on the Railway 200 website (it's on page 11 of the list of events) only mentions an open day at Polmadie on 21st September to celebrate the depot's 150th anniversary. It also says pre-booking will be required, and more details of the event will be released in due course.

Well that's changed. It was previously the whole of September and no pre-booking required.

That was where I first read of the Polmadie event and when I went to look at the relevant page for the event at thar time, it definitely stated 1st - 30th September and no booking.

As there was no further information about it, I haven't been back to look at the event since then - so it appears they've downgraded it at some point from the whole month to one Sunday.

Hi - I found out about the event by the time it was showing as sold out too :( Wrote to Alstom via the Contact form on the Greatest Gathering page on their website, and asked if they would be releasing any more tickets or extending the event. They said that they would add me to the waiting list if any tickets became available. I hadn't seen any mention anywhere of a waiting list, so give this a go and fingers crossed!

I contacted Alstom , this was the reply :

"All tickets on general sale have now sold out I'm afraid. We are aware that a small number will be available through Railtour operators and some group booking providers, however they will be promoting these themselves.

Best wishes and thank you for your interest.

The Greatest Gathering"
