Seems Edinburgh does fairly well in the amount of old stations that have either platforms (some barely) or station buildings that exist today with the majority of them being on public paths/cycle ways.

Not sure if the platforms are still discernable at the moment.

Leith Walk (NBR), Meadowbank, Eskbank (Old) and Joppa almost made this list but their is an active railway passing them.

Thornton-In-Craven on the old Colne - Skipton line had the track lifted in the 70s I think it was, but the platforms, station buildings, station masters house and even the old station lights are all still in existence!

One I used to cycle past every day until I moved is West Moors, the trackbed now being the Castleman Trailway.

I believe West Bay in Dorset still has it's station.

Indeed it does (it's a café) and so does Powerstock on the same line (private house - the owner has been there since before the line closed)

And on the Meon Valley line Droxford and Privett still have their station buildings (which is more than West Meon does)

Will have to go down to Powerstock some time to have a look, been near there so many times but didn't realise it still had it's station.

I also believe chard town station building is still there (near B&Q), and also Sturminster Newton station might still be there (adjacent to the main car park)

And although it does still have tracks a place that seems to have retained it's station (and platform) is Seaton Junction.

How about the (real) GWR station in Devon (Brixham? Kingswear?) that never had tracks? Only ever saw boats.

Dartmouth.

It had a station building with a booking office, but nearest trains (and track) were on the other side of the river at Kingswear!
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
The trainshed was demolished a long time ago and the Callaghan Labour Govt started building a Govt Office there (it was abandoned when Thatcher won in 1979).

Now its the site of a Morrisons supermarket

Re: Southport (Lord Street).

The frontage survives, forming (part of) a Travelodge. I have actually stayed in one of the rooms in the original clock tower, which was nice!

Bonnyrigg. The site has been nicely grassed over as a park, but the platform edges remain.

Ahh but ... my suggestion isn't on that website:)

edit: Either as Bardsea or Bardsea(Priory) Station

Nor are the first three I thought of - Kelvinbridge, Botanic Gardens and Kirklee. All in Glasgow as are many more.

This former Taff Vale Railway Station closed to passengers in 1930 but it still survives, complete with Signal Box. The station was closed to passengers in 1930 and the line was closed completely after WW2.

I've got a few books from the British Railways Past and Present series and there are many pictures, of eligible stations for this topic. Many are now residential with the track bed used as a garden, or driveways,

Lost somewhere within Bank-Monument tube station,
Haddiscoe High Level is exceptionally well-preserved. It can be glimpsed from a Norwich-bound train as it pulls into the low-level station. The platforms, station building, and even the old signalbox for the swing bridge still exist. The swing bridge pillars are still extant, as well as the abutement for where the old Yarmouth-Beccles line crossed the Norwich-Lowestoft line. I believe this part of the trackbed is still protected by law.

Another one in East Anglia is Thorpeness station, the platform still exists (although heavily overgrown). There's also a station building in the village of Bentley on the GEML, as well as what looks like an old goods yard. It's between Ipswich and Manningtree.

The platforms of Crouch End station on the Northern Heights line (now Parkland Walk) are still intact and can be seen. Highgate High Level is inaccessible, but visible and a rather unexpected sight in North London.

Wombourne and Tettenhall on the old South Staffs Line are nicely preserved platforms and buildings. Wombourne was a cafe, don't know if it still is.

Four ones in generally good repair on the Speyside line are Aberlour, Carron.
Knockando and Blacksboat. Another very good one is Redcastle on the Muir of Ord - Fortrose line.
