Regenerative Air Brake - how does it work?

I notice that the brake type for a class 323 is listed on Wikipedia as a 'regenerative air brake'.

I'm familiar with air brakes, and regenerative braking whereby the power is fed back into the OHLE as in a Pendolino, or the kinetic energy into a flywheel as in a Parry People Mover, but what is a regenerative air brake and how does it work?

In layman's terms it's regenerative and air driven.

Hope that clears it up for you

Seriously tho' I believe as the train brakes compressed air is produced which in turn is used to propel the unit when it accelerates again.

How, I have no idea.

No, it is two separate brakes as starrymarkb suggests.

Thanks for the information. I'd been wondering for some time actually but was too afraid to ask. Just shows that 'Wikipedia says it so it must be true' isn't true at all!
