Euro High Saver Single London Int to Gorton.

Travelling from Euston on 20:40 or later departure. Train does not arrive in Manchester in time to catch last departure for Gorton. Ticket is restriction code EA which is not valid for BOJ.

I would expect that this ticket is valid for resumption of journey from Manchester by an early service the next day, but can that overnight break be taken at Crewe bearing in mind that the train you alight from is heading for Manchester, and also that the train you continue on next day may have started from London, and may have departed from there before the 09:15 start of validity time for journeys starting at Euston?

Note CIV regs may apply if this changes anything.

For the information of others, the full restriction text (from http://brfares.com/#faredetail?orig=LNE&dest=GTO&rlc= &rte=0&ldn=1&tkt=EVS) is

you will be treated as breaking your journey if you leave a Train Company’s or Rail Service Company’s stations after you start your journey other than to:
(i) join a train at another station, or
(ii) stay in overnight accommodation when you cannot reasonably complete your journey within one day, or
(iii) follow any instructions given by a member of a Train Company’s or Rail Service Company’s staff.
so it does not count as break of journey. There is no requirement to travel as far as you can before services stop for the night either.

and also that the train you continue on next day may have started from London, and may have departed from there before the 09:15 start of validity time for journeys starting at Euston?
The answer to this has to be no; the restriction text is quite clear in that it applies to all trains starting from London Euston; it doesn't matter where you board the train. But I presume not all trains from Crewe to Manchester start their journey in London Euston; there must be some alternative train you can take to get to Manchester?

Such tickets have an overall validity of 2 months, and a forced overnight BoJ due to a lack of connecting train doesn't actually count as a BoJ.

The time restriction only applies to trains originating from Euston, which means you'd be able to get the 08:28 ATW service from Crewe to Piccadilly, but technically not the 09:11 Virgin one. Whether that would be enforced in practice remains to be seen, however.

Thanks Indigo2 for your prompt response.

There are many other services from Crewe to Manchester operated by Arriva and Northern that run before the first valid departure from London.

Indeed - you just need to avoid the hourly xx11 Virgin service.
There are of course other routes you could take to Manchester rather than via Wilmslow.
