I noticed tonight that the Railways Illustrated twitter account is marked as 'Protected' - shown by a little padlock next to their name. As far as I'm aware this means that a) they have to approve any request to follow the account and b) only followers can see their tweets - tweets cannot be retweeted for others to see.
Given that it's a widely available publication, I find this a little odd. Does anyone know why this is the case? I'm not aware of any other railway media who have protected their account.
