Rishton to Newport

Can any one advise on the best slips for a Rishton to Newport trip on 22nd April. Departing about 09:00 and returning at approx. 17:00 changing at Preston and Crewe. Flexible tickets only and no railcards. Train split is coming up with splits at Warrington, Nantwich, Shrewsbury and Ludlow. However the trains I am planning to use do not stop at Nantwich.

If you use trainsplit.com, with Warrington in the "via" box in advanced options, you will get a suggestion for a sequence of 5 day returns: the splits are at Warrington, Crewe, Shrewsbury and Ludlow, and save about £25 compared with the Rishton-Newport offpeak return at around £100. Those splits look good for the 0858 outbound and the 1709 homebound.
