Rosco's using older stock as Christmas trees?

Seeing this post about Long Marston,
That aerial photo shows how much of the site, whenever that was taken, is/was being clogged with unconverted D Stock with no home. And most of the rest with Porterbrook's 319s with no home.
set me wondering, are any of the Rosco's likely to use stored surplus rolling stock as a source of spares in order to get some value from it?

Yes, it’s fairly standard practice for what is known as “component recovery” to take place. It’s why various odd off lease EMUs have sometimes ended up in out of the way places like Eastleigh for stripping before scrapping.
