Rose Hill and Marple ticket inter availability?

Got into a debate elsewhere about these two and whether there is official acceptance of tickets between the two. I don't think there is (and thus wouldn't risk it given that a GM Rail Ranger is only £1.30 more than a return from one or the other to Manchester off peak), but the other person is adamant.

Can anyone confirm (ideally with a reference to something official if inter availability does exist)?

Thanks.

Edit: I mean formal inter availability - not whether most guards accept it - anecdotally they do, but it only takes one RPI in a bad mood to end up with a PF or out of court settlement.

Not formally.

I suspect conductors at depots closer to the area will accept informally if the passenger seems reasonable. Not sure if there's more than one depot serving that route.

Revenue Protection will probably issue a Penalty Fare/MG11.

Similar situation on Merseyrail between Rice Lane and Walton (Mersey) - nothing formal, and highly unlikely to ever be an issue in practice, but there's no right or guarantee of that.

I've always found informal inter-availability with Flowery Field and Hyde North too (obviously asking the guard before).

This one actually is listed on the list of interavailable stations available on the internal Knowledgebase.

Rose Hill and Marple on the other hand is not.

This is where Metrolink scores with zonal fares. Could well be extended to heavy rail in GM when lines become part of the Bee Network?

How big is the list? Presuming the list to which you refer, if it's only in the internal Knowledgebase, isn't in the public domain.

It's a 19 page pdf file. The majority of interavailable station pairs/groups only apply to season ticket holders, and most of the rest of the document is taken up by 3 groups of stations (Thames Valley, Lea Valley and West Wales).

Correct. Not listed as inter-available.
It seems crazy that the tickets are not interchangeable between the two New Mills Stations, baring in mind it’s a steep uphill walk when alighting at Central and a steady downhill walk when alighting at Newtown.

So anyone not great on their feet travelling to Manchester would be best travelling from Central and returning to Newtown to avoid walking uphill!
Sadly no return ticket exists that permits this apart from various ranger/rover tickets

AIUI There is a "fixed link" between the two new mills stations, so a ticket to Chinley or Furness vale is valid via either. Whether a ticket to one is valid to the other is more questionable, I've made NRE generate such itinaries before, but I've also had people say on here that you can't start or end a journey with a fixed link.

You have to look at the actual fare NRE is offering, not just the itinerary. If a journey begins or ends with a walk, the ticket will be issued to/from the first/last station from which you get a train. Since there isn't a "New Mills Stations" group, your ticket would therefore be issued to/from either Newtown or Central.

Chinley tickets aren't valid via Newtown but Furness Vale tickets are valid via Central.

As @plugwash says the stations are linked via a walk, so if you put in a Manchester to New Mills Central journey via New Mills Newtown into a journey planner (at least in a ticket office) it will show a New Mills Central ticket valid and vice versa for the other way round. Like how Burnley Central/Burnley Manchester Road work so yes it is possible to do on one ticket and hence no need to list in a specific inter-available stations document.

This is not correct, as above.

OK, but I can only report that Fujitsu Journey Planner will sell a ticket specifically to NMC with an itinerary via NMN and vice versa. Perhaps an incorrect implementation. What the internet will do, or what the routeing guide says should happen I don't know.
