I haven't found a dedicated thread for this discussion, so I thought I'd open one - though it may well turn into "freeware routes you didn't know existed"

My pick would be the Sunshine Coast Line. Great scenery, lots of viable traction, and quite a lot of operational interest. I've managed to find a TS version of pretty much every Great Eastern branch except it!

Any other suggestions?

I'd love to see a version of the Cotswold Line in TS Classic. There have been a number of projects proposing to take it on, but none have done the whole thing yet. We've got Hereford to Worcester as part of XC Route, but unless I've missed it (which is totally possible given I've been out of the loop for several months), the remaining section down to Oxford has not been released as part of the 'extended' edition of that route.

West Coast Mainline over Shap for TSW3, it was a cracking route in TS Classic so could logically be even better in TSW. Plenty of traction variety and scenery.

I thought they would have done the Settle-Carlisle too by now.

I would love to see Exeter to Paignton on TSW3 with the GWR 150 and GWR class 800/3's and layovers with:

• GWR Class 43 castle sets (on additional services between Exeter and Newton Abbot.)
•GWR Class 166 (covering for some 150 services.)
•Jubilee railtour (from spirit of steam.)

That would be a good route, and it’s another one that I’m surprised hasn’t already been done since how heavily it featured in TS Classic.

Probably because they have already done quite alot around there - I think the next UK route is likely to be in Wales or norfolk as they are the only two areas I can think of that are not covered.

There’s a Blackpool-Preston line coming out that’s announced by Just Trains. I agree Wales is under-represented and South Wales Coastal was popular in TS classic. However, I think for a lot of modern routes it comes down to licensing and we know they have licensing for GWR/Northern/EMT/SouthEastern/Southern so I think we will see more routes using those operators. There was talk a while back of a WCML route featuring Milton Keynes with Virgin or possibly Avanti.

I think the future is fairly bright for TSW routes now with more 3rd party developers coming on board.

Personally, I’d like to see another West/South Yorkshire route in game but that’s more self-interest rather than what I actually think will happen!

I'd quite like the LTS network, would be interesting to see how they do the underground lines between West Ham and Upminster, the docks at Tilbury, the Dartford bridge and the line through Hadleigh marsh and the castle. Whether they do this with 357s or 720s either would be cool.

That would be very cool, especially if they could throw in a 302.

They'll never do it in TSW in full due to its length, but I'd love to see the West Highland Line in the game. I suppose Fort William - Mallaig could be a possibility but one issue would be a lack of services to drive in timetable mode. More DMUs would be welcome in the game, especially the 156.

Is the WHL route any good in TS Classic out of interest?

The West Highland Extension was a really good route, the West Highland Line itself was a bit average. I’d be happy with either in TSW though.

That would also give them an excuse to develop more steam locomotives in TSW, which is part of the reason I'm staying with TS (the other part is that my graphics card is just about capable of the AP Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack V1!), so would be really interesting.

In terms of TS, I'd also like an updated Manchester to Hadfield/Glossop line, because TSW have just got one ;), and I'd also really like an Elizabeth Line route with ATO in the core.

I would love to see the west Anglia main line in TS as it's my local route and will fill quite a large gap
How's that doing in terms of rolling stock? We have the 317 and 379 from AP, but are there any plans to add 745/710/720 to the game?

The Shipley Triangle lines: Electrified, dense commuter services interspersed with semifast, express and freight. Also a lot going on for not so very many route miles.

That would be a good one, and I'm surprised it has never appeared before in any incarnation of TS. Would have good railtour potential too, plus the KWVR.

I'd like to see something Chiltern related in TSW3, something like the amersham line with the Aylesbury to Princes Risborough branch as well, as then it's not too long, would also mean they could modify the 166 and hopefully make a Turbostar finally!

Merseyrail, not sure if the whole network could be covered but be interesting, although monotonous

North Wales Coast for TSW3, i see this line was done for TS.

It would be nice to have London Euston to Milton Keynes with the Avanti 390 and London North Western 350/1,350/3 and 350/4.
It would make a nice combination of express and commuter maybe with a loco add-on for the class 221. If they did this route it would be nice to see it set in the present day with 4TPH with Avanti* and 5TPH with London North Western railway.

*This could be 9TPH if the developer made a system where you can finish a service on the move as not all services call at Milton Keynes.

Crewe to Holyhead.
Chester, seaside, Llandudno branch, the trip through the 'castle', and the sign at Llanfair pw.
Maybe even request stops too 8-)

Cardiff-Treherbert/Abercynon/Rhymney.

The Barry Railway and the Tonteg-Llantrisant branch - actually someone has done these but no idea where; I even tried building the latter

Anything in Finland: Helsinki-Turku would be very appreciated

I have thought for a while that a Valley Lines network around Cardiff would be perfect for Train Sim World service mode.

A more general suggestion, but a network of routes that give players flexibility rather than to stick to a linear route, just like countless of TSC examples.

One of TSW's biggest points is that you aren't confined to the cab and can wander anywhere, but switching ends isn't used terribly often. They missed a trick on the East Coastway route by not including the line to Hastings/Ore as that would have led to a lot more operational interest with attaching/detaching and having to reverse out of Eastbourne. Plus I live there, so I was a little miffed. ;)

Aside from that, any route that can feasibly be a network of varied routes and destinations. The Valley Lines are a good one, as previously mentioned.
