I suspect that Brussels to Switzerland would not have sufficient market (from Brussels and hinterland, or changing from London) to justify a direct train.
True, but as an extension of the existing twice-daily Brussels-Strasbourg it might wash its face.

With the take off of the sleeper trains in Europe it's hard to know what would or would not take off to be honest. I suspect this might be a bit far though.

I think if the UK was in the Schengen this would be a different conversation.

If the UK was in Schegen we wouldn’t be having the conversation. There would already be regular through trains to Barcelona, Marseille (possibly Nice), Geneva, Milan, Zurich, Frankfurt (possibly Munich) and Dusseldorf or Dortmund.

Probably sleepers too. But we are where we are...

Not sure about that, unless a european railway wanted to subsidise them.

Agreed. The markets seen opening up confirm that even without High Speed infrastructure beyond HS1 the UK would clearly be a plausible market. Midnight Trains clinging on as long as they did to the idea of running trains to/from the UK is also illustrative of the market. Add to that the market that an independent Scotland would be willing to subsidise and the whole concept seems entirely reasonable to me.
