Scotrail - Bell buzzer codes

Hi everyone - I’ve been travelling about in Scotland this weekend, and have noticed that during dispatch, there seems to be an exchange of bell buzzer codes between the driver and guard other than the usual 2 & repeat back for ready to start.

It sounds something like 2-1, 2-1, then 2 & 2 but I keep hearing different things - probably because I’m sat in a noisy saloon!

I’m guessing this is something to do with the driver informing the guard they have a token at the token exchange points, but does anyone have any more info?

2-1 is a code unique to RETB to inform the guard the token has been received. Guard then closes doors and gives 2-1 repeated back then 2 for ready to start. Driver then returns 2. So 2-1-2 then 2 back.

I'm an idiot and completely misread 2-1 as 1-2. Disregard!
It did originally say 1-2, but I realised I had mistyped and edited not too long before your post. So you may not have misread!

Makes sense, thank you! Curiosity satisfied!
