Sorry to hear Mulch. What kind of questions did they ask at the interview?
Think the 6 month rule only applies to the Conductor position.

I can't remember exactly what they asked me now, I usually forget pretty quickly after. I do remember being asked something like making a decision based on data though, which I wasn't expecting. I had a Conductor interview last year (which I passed, but I was put on a reserve list) and I don't think they asked me anything like that then

Sorry to hear that Mulch.

As far as I’m aware, the 6 month rule only applies to conductor jobs. However, I think if you still have active applications open, they should still proceed. I applied for Perth, was waiting for an interview when Stirling came up. I applied to Stirling, was rejected, but still got my interview with Perth later. Slightly different situation from yourself, but hopefully they’ll keep you in the running for the existing applications.

Did you get any feedback from your interview?

That's reassuring then, I've still got a few others active so hopefully I can still progress with them. Frustratingly I didn't get any feedback, I felt more confident coming out of the recent interview compared to the one last year, so I would've liked to know where I went wrong

Anyone been given a start date for the training school in April?

I wondered if I could have some insight from previous successful applicants please.

When did you recieve your contract and was it via post/email?

When would I likely find out my onward after training shift pattern?

From previous reads, Contract usually comes out via email.

Shift pattern after school depends on the depot you are going to, they will want you working a mix of shifts so you can experience the role. Usually weekends off however again depends on the depot.

Since you had the interview it’s worth contacting the recruitment team and asking for individual feedback.

This way you have something to build on for next time. One of the most common areas for people not hitting the mark is due to not using the STAR technique.

Situation, Task, Action, Result. Very recently I have seen some people adding on another R for Reflection, what did you learn / would do different next time.

Got email a couple of days ago to say I have passed the assessment and will be informed shortly of the next stage. Which should be an interview at Edinburgh Waverley.
I'm assuming the type of questions will be
i.e. describe a type when you've had to deal with an emergency?
Or a time you've delivered exceptional customer service?
I've been preparing answers for these types of questions. But any advice will be appreciated.

Ah nice, I didn't think they would respond to requests, I've sent an email

I did try to use STAR, that's how I was planning my answers. I had to come up with a couple answers on the fly though so maybe those didn't fit the format properly and there's where I faltered

Just got a reply, they're not providing feedback due to the volume of candidates

Sorry, I honestly thought due to the fact you had an interview they would have provided feedback.

Keep going and don’t get put off submitting applications in the future. As you know doubt have seen from the forums it takes many people a few tries before they get their foot in the door.

Hi All

Please delete if not allowed. I've got an interview with scotrail in a few weeks time. I was just wondering if anyone has any previous experience or knowledge of what the questions will be like.

Thanks in advance

Interviews at ScotRail typically contain a mix of competence and values-based questions where they look for evidence of your experience and compare these against the ScotRail Values. This means they require you to give specific, relevant, detailed and positive examples of things you've done.

Behavioral questions will tend to be ‘open questions' that will require you to give detailed answers.

When preparing examples for your interview, try to keep the following in mind when structuring your answers:

S. Situation – Describe the situation you found yourself in.
T. Tasks – What tasks did you identify that needed to be done?
A. Actions – What actions did you actually take?
R. Results – What was the outcome?

The key to these questions is ensuring that you have answered the question and have clearly articulated the scenario and have demonstrated what you personally did, said or achieved within the scenario.

If you use the search feature at the top of the page you can look up conductor interview - will give some examples.
Good luck

Congrats on the inteview. I was just wondering when you sat the assessments? I was told a month ago I passed both assessments and been waiting to hear back about the next stage.

Good luck.

Thanks! I had my assessments on the 6th of march, found out about the interview a week later.

Might be worth emailing them to see what's happened, although they don't seem great at replying.

I passed the Assessment in February and still haven't received an interview date. Am I likely to still get one? My application still shows as "under further consideration" on the website.

Normally has for me in the past taken about a week / two weeks maxium to hear back to get a interview date.

Sadly i wasn't able to apply the last time the roles went up as was within 6 months of not passing the interview late last year. Sadly though didn't get feedback.
