Season Ticket Changeover - travelcard for rail ticket

Hello

I'm looking for some advice please? I currently live in London Zone 4 and have an annual travelcard for Zones 1 - 4 which was purchased in May.

I will be moving to St Albans and need to change my ticket from a travel card to a ticket from St Albans - London Thameslink (I'll be using City Thameslink station if it makes any difference).

I wonder if someone can confirm whether I can change my travelcard for a rail ticket? If it makes any difference my travelcard is on paper and is printed on National Rail stock. It was purchased from a Southeastern station.

If I can do this, are my rough maths below correct?
Ticket started 1 May 2012
Changeover 1 September 2012 (or thereabouts)
4 months of old ticket used

Original Ticket cost: 1672
New ticket cost: 2988

Difference: 1316

Cost of changeover = approx £877

I'm not too bothered about the exact amount as this will change depending on the date selected but is this roughly right?

Assuming a change-over date of 1st September, and changing to a point-to-point season St Albans ([stn]SAC[/stn]) - London Thameslink rather than a Travelcard:

Using fares from NFM11 (02/01/12 - 19/05/12)

Cost of original ticket : £41.80 * 40 = £1672.00
Cost of new ticket for same period as original : £74.70 * 40 = £2988.00

Base rate for original ticket : £1672.00 / 365 = £4.58
Base rate for new ticket : £2988.00 / 365 = £8.19

Number of days validity for new ticket (01/09/12 - 30/04/13) : 241

Credit due on original ticket : £4.58 * 241 = £1103.78
Charge for new ticket : £8.19 * 241 = £1973.79

Additional payment due : £1973.79 - £1103.78 = £870.01

Oops. My bad. Misread the calendar. The calculation is correct for 241 days though.
