Leicester is also twinned with a settlement in Central America. Camborne's "twin" is Pachuca, Mexico; Leicester's is Masaya, Nicaragua.

A landowner in Wanlip and neighbouring Birstall, is Charles Palmer-Tomkinson: father of the late Tara Palmer-Tomkinson (1971 -- 2017); whom one might describe, benignly I'd reckon, as "a colourful person". Ms. Palmer-Tomkinson was born in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

Newton St. Faith, Norfolk -- five miles north of Norwich -- also lies just fractionally off the A140 road.

There is another Reepham in (just)-neighbouring Lincolnshire: five miles north-east of Lincoln.

The splendidly-named Mary Acworth Orr Evershed (1867 -- 1949) was a learned lady: per Wiki, an astronomer and also a Dante scholar -- it says, "while she loved Dante's work, she was worried about his cosmography" (you should have picked two more compatible hobbies, young Mary). She died in Ewhurst; was born in Plymouth.

Location
Hampshire (nearly a Hog)
Laira is home to the Lipson Co-operative Academy. This is a relatively unusual form of independent government-funded school. There is one also at Pudsey in West Yorkshire, the Priesthorpe Co-operative Academy.

Preston, Lancashire, also lends its name to a cartoon animal. Pudsey and Preston are in this context, benign and evil respectively: Pudsey Bear being the mascot of the BBC Children In Need appeal, whereas Preston is the villainous sheep-rustling dog in the Wallace and Gromit "claymation" cartoon film A Close Shave.

Ribchester in Lancashire also lies on the line of the River Ribble.
The above-bolded settlement has an amateur-dramatic association called the Ribchester Amateur Theatre Society -- RATS for short. Meanwhile, its counterpart in Loughton, Essex, styles itself the Loughton Amateur Dramatic Society -- therefore, LADS.

Numerous settlements in England have a hostelry called the Bricklayers Arms (apostrophes optional; and as well as the name's application to a well-known London rail-system venue). Stondon Massey has one; at the other end of Essex, there's another inn of that name at Little Bentley -- two miles north of the better-known Great Bentley.

The bitter beer named Old Speckled Hen, was originated by the Morland Brewery in Abingdon -- but following on from commercial vicissitudes: it is now brewed by Greene King at their brewery in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. (Personal connection of mine -- without wishing for "too much information", I like Old Speckled Hen but it doesn't like me; consuming on my part, of more than a small quantity of this beer: always seems to cause me to throw up.)

Quarley in Hampshire was also once administered by the Hundred of Andover.
Quarley lies close to Thruxton Airfield / Airport / Aerodrome / Motorsport Centre (a versatile establishment !) -- a little closer, it would seem, than the eponymous Thruxton, Hampshire.
