Sutton Coldfield is home to one of the three most important TV and radio broadcast transmitters in the UK, in terms of population covered. The others are at Winter Hill near Bolton and Crystal Palace in South London.

Well the local cinema has Crystal Palace in its postal address.

Glasgow was the last UK municipality to construct a new trolleybus system, introduced in 1949.
In contrast, the first to introduce trolleybuses (in 1911, at the same time as its larger neighbour in Yorkshire) was Bradford.

At Nos 18 and 20 Roffes Lane are two unusual Arts and Crafts elm timber framed and panelled cottages by the architect Ernest George Trobridge. Exhibitions have been held about Trobridge's work in Oxford in 1982, Edinburgh in 1983 and in the London Borough of Brent in 2010.
