Alton is another relatively small Hampshire town that has its own college.

Exmouth was also attacked by the Danes during their invasion in 1001 AD

Forgive the ignorance, but what is or was the Rhubarb Triangle?

There is quite a good Wikipedia article on this.

heavens,
West Yorkshire once produced 90% of the world's winter forced rhubarb from the forcing sheds that were common across the fields in the area.[4]
:o

Anyway, Exmouth should not be confused with Axmouth, which is a slightly smaller settlement a bit further along the Jurassic Park Heritage Coast thing. :o

Sorry - went to bed early and missed your question, but I am pleased to find Paul has clarified things.

Beer

I couldn't resist this, possibly the most random fact about Bognor Regis ever:
The historic meeting of the crews (and associated handshake) of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project on 17 July 1975 was intended to have taken place over Bognor Regis, but a flight delay caused it to occur over Metz in France instead

It must be true, it's on Wikipedia.
:o

Anyway, On the beach between Bognor Regis and Aldwick lies the wreck of one of the Mulberry Harbour Floating Pontoons off of D-Day. Other such can be found at Portland harbour, Dorset. :o

Portland is a former Royal Navy dockyard now turned over to commercial use, and in this shares something in common with Rosyth, in Scotland.

Can I most respectfully point out that Rosyth has only just been used prior to this.....please refer to posting # 1720.

We need another association with Portland to replace this posting.

One of Broadstairs' famous sons is Edward Heath, who was preceded and succeeded in office of Prime Minister by Harold Wilson, born in Huddersfield.

Huddersfield is a rare example of a settlement that has a Rugby League team that consisting outperforms the football team even though the latter are in their respective professional league themselves. Another example, that also just happens to be local to Huddersfield, is Bradford.

Harmondsworth was, until the mid 1990s, the home of Penguin Boooks, and one of the Uk's leading Penguin populations can be found at Bristol Zooo.

I can't think of Bristol without thinking of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who was born at Portsmouth.
