Apparently, there are more announcements coming for the diesel gala, which will add to what is an already impressive line up.

Thanks for the info...I'm not too fussed about any of those tbf the 60 being the pick of the bunch for me. Would like a 25, 37 and/or a Hymek but that's not going to happen.

Pity nothing new is going to turn up, though that would probably have to be the Class 18 at the moment. Now that would be something to see.

I would rather a 60 than a 67. Then again, I would prefer more heritage visitors, but it's going to be a fantastic few days either way;)

Forgive me but it is much more important to ensure the event is profitable, particularly in the present circumstances. :'(

But to be profitable it needs people buying tickets. Which means locos they want to travel behind.

I would agree, having said that, the two things aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.
My own thoughts are there are too many galas. Special events of all kinds need to follow the "quality always sells'' maxim of the antiques trade if this can be achieved.
As an example of this I know of one line whose Santa specials have attracted visitors literally from the other side of the earth. Okay this is unlikely to be universal but it has been done.

I agree with this, I think some events are a waste of money E.G there vintage photography workshop with 1 train running and only doing half the line; just why?

As an example the huge success of Swanage Railway's Strictly Bulleid and in a similar vein the NRMs Great Gathering.

It all depends if they make any money.

Profit does not seem to be a consideration at the forefront of volunteer minds very often. Sometimes the competitive nature of galas seems to be who can invite the greatest number of locos.
