As part of their countdown to opening their new Sheffield store Ikea have "refurbished" one of the Sheffield trams with new seat coverings and even carpets!!!!

Not sure how long it is remaining in service like this but the store opens towards the end of the month.

It wouldn't help them much if the carpet and seats were covered in winter grime so I suspect that the moment it starts looking like that, the brand association will be promptly removed.

Good job it isn't one of the 399s... Rovrum would reduce it to ashes in no time!*

(*=Not that anything's going to Rotherham anytime soon, mind!)

Is the first photo (exterior view) supposed to look filthy? It took a moment to realise that the upper level 'flecks' aren't (apparently) mud splashes.

Wow, whoever signed that off needs a slap!

I've actually seen it myself today whilst I was in the car..... Externally it looks far more uniformly light blue and didn't look dirty etc.... The confetti is more noticeable as confetti in reality.

I'm also assuming it'll not be used later in the evenings when the passengers might be slightly the worse for wear and more likely to be leaving stains.....

... unless it is advertising stainproof carpeting. Maybe a local carpet cleaning expert could use it for advertising. :)

It was running to Meadowhall on Sunday afternoon and evening.

I even had walk across to go and have a look at it, it certainly looks different inside on the seat coverings.
It looks like the carpet effect floor covering seem,s to be only in the middle car floor.
Wonder how long it will be running about like that? as it certainly will test the fabrics on the seat,s all the bums on seats while its running about.

I like this and would like to see more done in this way - perhaps even with pattern variations between the trams.

It makes them feel more homely / personalised / individualised.
