Cambridgeshire News item:
B1090 closed for four months for repairs after road ‘started to slip towards railway’. Work on the repairs will continue until the end of January 2021.
A Cambridgeshire road is set to be closed for repairs after a section of the carriageway started to ‘fail and slip towards the railway.’
A section of the B1090, which runs parallel to the railway, will be removed and a new wall will be built into the embankment.
The road, which runs between St Ives and Sawtry, will also see a new safety barrier installed along the entire length of this section.
Work on the repairs will start next Monday (September 14) and is expected to be completed by the end of January 2021.
While the works take place, a full closure will be implemented between the Clay Lane, Abbots Ripton and Wennington junctions.
Councillor Ian Bates, Chairman of the Highways and Transport Committee, said: “I am pleased to see that these essential safety works along the B1090 will start next month.
“We realise it may cause some disruption, but once these vital safety works are completed, the road will be safer for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.”
Just curious as to whether there will be rail restrictions between Huntingdon and Peterborough while these work are undertaken?
