Should I change at Farringdon or Liverpool Street?

Hi, It's now general knowledge that the walk (and I walk very slowly with a stick) from the Elizabeth line platforms to the main line platforms at Liverpool Street is a long walk, and also includes rest on the two (possibly longest/steepest?) escalators on the network.

Is it a shorter, easier walk arriving from Ealing Broadway to swop over from the Elizabeth line to the Metropolitan and Circle line at Farringdon and then have a short walk, from the platforms at Liverpool Street?

Does anyone know whereabouts on an Elizabeth Line unit I would need to be in for the connection at Farringdon?

I badly learnt the hard way at Liverpool Street, coming from Abbey Wood I was near the front; by the time I left the platform area the following train had arrived!!

Thanks in advance of any info.

I have not used the Elizabeth Line yet, partly because of the issues that you describe.

My understanding is that the Elizabeth Line station called Liverpool Street has a Liverpool Street entrance/exit at the eastern end and a Moorgate entrance/exit at the western end, but the Elizabeth Line station called Farringdon has a Farringdon entrance/exit at the western end and a Barbican entrance/exit at the eastern end.

Thus going between Farringdon and Liverpool Street on the Elizabeth Line always requires walking the full length of the platform, whichever way you do it.

I still use the Metropolitan line to interchange between Farringdon and Liverpool Street. That also saves time not going down into a deep hole in the ground and coming back out again.

On trains heading westbound, you want to be at the front of the train at Farringdon. The walk is up 2 escalators and over a bridge.

For Liverpool Street / Moorgate heading Westbound the front of the train is the Moorgate exit. Again 2 escalators and then you are at the Met / Circle / H&C lines.

Don’t think there is much to choose. If you are at the rear of the train, Liverpool Street is closer but not sure about the route.

I think Moorgate is the easier interchange for the lines you mention, but Farringdon isn’t much better / worse. It is probably quicker end to end.

I’m not a actually sure from your post what your journey is, but if minimising walking is your objective, then I believe that interchanging between the Sub-Surface lines at Moorgate is actually a shorter walk. This is toward the west end of any Crossrail train; but not the very west end.

If your journey is from Ealing Bdy to the Mainline station at Liverpool Street, then it is not worth interchanging to the Sub-Surface; just try and ensure you are at the east end of the Crossrail train.

from Liverpool Street XR to Mainline if you're at the very front of the 345 there's a way towards a lift, then there's the sideways lift next to the escalators and you're already higher than the sub-surface would get you.
Don't really remember how far the walk is for it, but probably less than changing at Farringdon and Liverpool Street.

Just a thought... but what is the ongoing journey beyond Liverpool Street?

If it's on a train that calls at Stratford, wouldn't that be the better place to change at?
