Only for trainee drivers and it’s 4 years. If you leave before you have to pay a % back.
Whats the TOC to FOC course, is that for trainees also? There's a mention of 2 types of training contracts.

I’m not sure, but I doubt you’ll do the 12 month trainee course if you’re already a mainline driver.

I think they are fed up with training people who then take the qualification and go work elsewhere. I can’t blame them GBRf putting a clause in place after they have spent a fortune on a new trainee. The HR lady told me about the repayment costs and that they had offered someone a job who then turned it down after being told about the costs to them if they left! I think she said it was £65k, may have been more.

I don’t blame either. But if you’re a trainee it’s with doing. Plus you only pay that if you leave within the period you’re locked in for.

I believe that in addition to (presumably) class 66 and other loco/wagon courses as required it's 150ish handling hours with a minder.

I am going to get 150 hours handling along with Hazardous Goods and T3 Training plus Traction obviously.

The way I read it, coming from a TOC to A FOC would cost 15k, so I thought it could possibly be a driver? as no trainee was mentioned. Something to look at if drivers are applying.

Unless it’s recently changed it’s 5 years for driver and w years for groundstaff

I don’t know how true it is but you have to still potentially pay it back if you leave the company through any means. Including if you don’t pass the course, get sacked, or leave the railway all together.

You maybe right, I’m just waiting for my contract to come through.
