Speaking as someone who has been sat in a Mk1 coach when an idiot threw a stone at the window, smashing it and many years later sat in a HST when a stone smashed the outer pane, I am very much in favour of double glazing on trains.
The first incident was just north of Doncaster. I was in a compartment with the door open when the corridor window was taken out, the glass only hit my legs, but I was shaking for a considerable time afterwards. THe HST incident made me jump, but I was only briefly shaken.

I can't stand it in winter when it's cold/raining and the bus steams up instantly without double glazing, it makes for a much longer feeling and colder ride, plus you can't see where you are unless you wipe off the condensation layer...

The new Transdev Coastliner buses in Yorksire are mainly double glazed and it makes the experience of travelling in one MUCH nicer
