I am travelling to London for a gig at Hyde Park 2 weeks on Saturday but the slight snag is the gig starts at 1 as it's an all day festival and I can't check in properly into the bnb until 2. I check in beforehand and leave bags etc but the rooms won't be ready. I'm travelling from Newcastle at 6:55am which means I need to be up at 5:30 so I'm wondering if there are any showers at or near to Kings Cross that I can use to waken myself up and get changed. I'm only travelling at standard class.

Any help welcome.

That they are, although NR don't seem keen on revealing the cost of them! Would expect them to be about a fiver though.

Worth pointing out you can also find showers at Paddington (platform 1) and Euston.

I used the toilets (where the showers are as well) yesterday, and briefly saw there was a poster advertising a £5 (or so) deposit for a shower pack, not sure if that included the actual hot water though...

Hmm, don't know about that. £6.80 is the cost of a first class single to Harrow and Wealdstone. Don't think you'll find a cheaper first class ticket out of Euston than that, with the possible exception of a lucky advance.

I think it his a Virgin lounge so you might need to eb a virgin first class passenger

Yes - or a Scotrail passenger using the sleeper, with a first class ticket.

London Midland don't pay for the lounge.

Isn't the arrangement that all sleeper pax can use the showers? I may be thinking of something else.
