Hello,
Please could someone help me, I’m very confused and I’m hoping someone can clarify what my options are.
I received an email with a fine of £1005.50
And also a separate letter letter with a single justice procedure notice (with the same case number as the email). It has a fine of £175 and to plee guilty or not guilty in court. But no mention of the £1005.50 fine I’ve received in a email with a spreadsheet to comment on.
Please can someone tell me all my options.
There letter only is talking about one incident at Marylebone station. Yet this email brings up many occasions of travel using the train.
I’m very overwhelmed and confused please could someone break this down for me and tell me all my options moving forward.
Many thanks,
Emily

Can you post up the letter and email you have received, with your details redacted, so that we can try and work out what's going on here?

It could be that you were caught short faring (eg buying a ticket from Wembley when you in fact travelled from much further away) and when they investigated your Trainline account they discovered numerous other tickets from Wembley. So as an alternative to being prosecuted they are offering you a settlement (what you call a “fine” - it isn’t) which reflects the full totality of fares avoided.

One reason for the SJPN only referring to one case is that the train company (Chiltern?) has the evidence for one case, but has done a digital trawl to find the other cases. That digital trawl may not have the evidence basis needed for SJPN, but as you can see, the train company aren't going to stop there. There may be other reasons, and to get the best advice, the best protection, you need to give the specific details that apply here, as mentioned by the other people here.
