Hey guys!

I need to be travelling for the whole of next year 5 days a week to Tooting Broadway from Slough. I been researching a lot about the route, fares, discounts, etc but the result is that I'm really confused! :?
I'll be 19 years old while travelling.

I would really really appreciate it, if you guys can help me :)

*What is the quickest route to take?
*Can I get a season ticket that covers both train and tube? Please provide the link.
*What discounts can I apply for?

Thank you very much in advance. :)

EDIT: I usually will have to start my journey at around 7:30~7:50
And start my journey back from Tooting Broadway at around 4:30~5:00

A 7 day travelcard from Slough to London Zones 1-6 is £79.40, this gives you unlimited travel on buses, tubes, London Overground, National Rail trains, DLR, London Tramlink etc within London as well as between Slough and London Paddington on FGW.

I'd personally travel on FGW from Slough to Paddington, then the Bakerloo line to Oxford Circus, Victoria line to Stockwell, then finally the Northern line to Tooting Broadway.

As you're 19, you can apply for a Young Person's Railcard, but this isn't valid on peak services before 1000 weekdays, but will give you discounted travel on off-peak services.

Other members may find more cheaper splits for you.

If you're intending to travel for the whole of next year, (so not starting your travel in this year), bear in mind that prices change (usually upwards!) on the first Sunday in January.

If cost is your priority, rather than journey time, then a London Zones 1 - 5 travelcard will cover Slough if you use TfL bus 81 between Hounslow West and Slough, at £53.40.

I'm going to assume you aren't prepared to take the bus.

I would take the Northern line to Tooting Broadway. You can plan the whole journey from Slough on TfL's website. It involves either with a change to the Central line at Ealing Broadway, or changing to the tube at Paddington. Both routes take about the same amount of time, 1hr 18mins

During the months of July and August only, there is no minimum fare on 16-25 Railcard-discounted tickets before 10am, so I would get this:
Zone 1-3 Travelcard (can be on Oyster) £31.80/week
Paper Anytime Day Return Slough to Boundary Zone 3 with 16-25 Railcard discount* 5x £7 = £35.00
Total: £71.80/week

For the other months of the year, I'd get the Slough to London Zones 1-6 season mentioned above, at £79.40/week.

Although I've quoted weekly prices, season tickets are cheaper if you buy monthly variants, and cheaper still if you buy an annual. They are available with validity for 1 week or any number of days from 1 month up to 1 year. If you can't afford an annual in one go, consider buying tickets to always start on a Monday for a month and then however many extra days to take you up to a Friday. that way you pay for less weekends when you won't be using it.

If you are travelling to Tooting to study at an educational establishment, or to work as part of a sandwich course, there is a cheaper option than what's mentioned above, involving the 18+ Oyster card (but this is not available to you if you are merely travelling for work). Please say if that is the case and we can advise further.

* Note that Boundary Zone tickets cannot be purchased online so must be purchased at a National Rail ticket office upon presentation of a valid travelcard.

There's also the Slough to Tooting Route: Via Windsor ticket to consider, at £79.10 per week. Somehow I suspect it would be a very slow way to go...

The 16-25 Railcard is certainly valid on all journeys at any time. It is not always useful due to a minimum fare in force before that time for the majority of the year on weekdays.

First of all, thank you for taking time to help me!

So I guess these are peak times?

I am starting from September this year and finishing mid July.
Also I prefer not taking the bus as it would just increase the journey time by a lot!

Yes, I dont think taking the bus is a good option as the journey time will be severely lengthened!

I'd prefer catching the train to Paddington and then the tube.
I doubt I'll be travelling in July/August, maybe a few weeks in July.

Thanks for providing me with the link! So if I get this travelcard can I use it to go from SLO to PAD aswell as the tube during the times I mentioned above?
Also is that website legit and safe to purchase the ticket from? - It doesnt seem like an official one.

Yes, I am going there to study. Can you please advice me further?

Not sure which ticket you are referring to here, but for the avoidance of doubt, the Via Windsor ticket is not a Travelcard. It is an ordinary National Rail season ticket so not valid on London Underground services, and it is not valid into Paddington AFAIK.

BRFares does not sell tickets. It is merely a website providing fares information.

No, I did not mean the Windsor one.
Does the other travel card include both train(SLO to PAD) and tube(PAD to Tooting Broadway)?

You can buy the Slough to London Zones 1-6 season from any National Rail ticket office. You will need to take a passport photo if you do not already have a National Rail photocard

I'm a bit confused here.
Is the travelcard = Slough to London Zones 1-6 season ticket ???
Can I use the Slough to London Zones 1-6 season ticket for both train(SLO to PAD) and tube(PAD to Tooting Broadway)?
Can I use the National Rail Photocard to get further discounts on the season ticket?

I'm really sorry for asking these basic questions, I'm partly confused and also need to double check if I'm correct :p

Yes, unlimited travel by train from Slough to Paddington, and unlimited trains, underground, DLR, London Overground, and trams in Zones 1 -6, with travel on all TfL buses, both inside and outside London (e.g. Slough, Watford, Borehamwood, Potters Bar, Waltham Cross, Brentwood, Lakeside, Bluewater, Westerham, Dorking, Staines).

You'll also get the benefits of a Gold Card, for yourself and up to three accompanying adults, if you buy an annual travelcard.

You can buy this Travelcard season ticket from any National Rail ticket office. It is possible to buy it online but you would need to already be in possession of a Photocard.

I think it is easiest for you on this occasion to simply buy it from a ticket office in person. Make sure that you have a passport-sized photo with you.

The photocard does not entitle you to any discount, its just used for identification so you can't lend the season ticket to a friend. The photocard, which is free of charge, has a number printed on it which will match the number on the season ticket..

Photocard = photo ID card
Railcard = Gives discounts on other tickets
Travelcard = Unlimited travel in certain London zones
Season ticket = Unlimited travel on a specific route

Hi, can you please advice me how I can use the 18+ Oystercard, as I will be travelling to university in Tooting.
I'm trying to find a cheaper option than the £300 a month season ticket one.

I really appreciate everyone's help!
