Sort of urgent: Poulton to Bolton today

Mods please move if incorrect forum subject.
I need to get to Bolton from
Poulton-le-Fylde today, loads of cancellations. I think there is one at 16:20 ish for a TPX connection at Preston, which Im not holding my breath about.
I bought a ticket this morning.
What are my options if this 16:20ish is cancelled or the connection falls through. I doubt the 17:00 direct service will run too.

16.21 Poulton-le-Fylde to Preston and connecting 16.47 Preston to Bolton both currently showing as running.

They ran thankfully, but there where rammed.

If the connecting TPX service was cancelled, would Preston>Blackburn>Bolton be a valid route as I was on the York train?
