Door windows on 920 seem smaller, been told that this unit might have been used as some sort of test bed.

I'd have said the door windows on 920 were slightly larger, just look at the drivers door on the two.

Could it relate to the class 210 (although I think It was 455912) or the earlier class 510? Or just a technological failure on construction, because it was like that since NSE or BR

If I recall from an old thread that I can't locate, the last 455/9 units were followed off the production line at York by the first 317/2 units (batch 1 of 317349-317368). It was suggested that the bigger door windows were a design tweak, and that the doors intended for some of the 455/9 units (small windows) and the the 317/2 units (big windows) were "swapped" on the production line. If I was inclined, I'd look out some photos of the first 317/2 units to confirm if this is true or not.

The cab door windows on 5918 and all door windows on 5920 are/were* deeper than the rest of the 455 fleet, the easiest way to tell is to look at the bottom of the door windows which line up with the bottom of the saloon windows, on the others the bottom of the door windows is quite a bit higher than the saloon windows.

There are some 317s (which normally have the larger windows) that have the smaller windows (317666 springs to mind but I dont know why), the 317s followed the 455/9s off the production line at York.

* some doors have been changed between units so there is a bit of a mixup now, one of 5918s coaches has a deepcab door window one side and a normal one the other, I have got some poor pictures somewhere so will try and dig them out.

67400 (ex 210 coach) in 5912 also had the windows mounted lower in the doors than the rest of the fleetso the bottom lines up instead of the top.-

This coach has had replacement doors fitted and is the same as the rest now, window wise, it still has the bottom door runners as the 455/7 and 455/8 whix=ch are different to the rest of the 455/9s.

That is unlikely, you can't fit a 12 car on to the platforms at Twickenham and there is no facility onboard for SDO.
